What is WordPress?

WordPress is a Web site construction platform launched in 2003 by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. Today, almost a decade after, WordPress has become the most popular and the best platform to design your site or your blog. WordPress is no longer an amateur blogging platform.

More than 50% of the world’s top 100 websites are currently running on WordPress, which is almost unbelievable if we compare it to the 27% that was in 2010. This figure is projected to increase in the next few years, where WordPress speculated to become a monopoly on the market.

Personally, I use WordPress since the first time it was launched in 2003. I have understood its importance and its multitude of possibilities that are literally limitless. So I would like to tell you a few things about what is ultimately WordPress and why you should use it as the basic professional tool to build your site and your online business.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a simple Content management system(CMS Content management system) that can be used in the construction of any type of website. Originally developed to build and publish only blogs. In recent years it has evolved into a complete Web design program, e-Shop, forum and all kinds of sites.

WordPress Blogger

It is open-source software that is powerful in creating, managing and sharing Internet content and social media. Also, as many sites I make with WordPress, it all comes out on the first page of Google.

Today, WordPress has given life to thousands of blogs that are highly popular and have a lot of traffic. WordPress is a very powerful tool and has too many well-written add-ons. The WordPress plugins or add-ons that are free are more than 42,000 and more than 2,700 themes are also available for free.

Their number then increases, and that means that if you start your site today you will have unlimited access to thousands of themes and add-ons without having to buy anything.

Why WordPress?

There are thousands of other content management systems that are similar to WordPress and many of them are very much effective in the targeted market. I have tried most of them, such as Drupal,Joomla,Magento, OpenCart, Pligg, phpBB, Flynax and many more.

But none reaches SEOin WordPress and none has the same technical support and the same developer community around the world that with their technical knowledge have led WordPress to the top!

How to host WordPress

When you get to the point to build your website, you hosting provider will allow you to install WordPress with the click of a button. It is very simple. Most hosting companies offer this solution. There are some of them though that they don’t. If you want to be sure of which hosting providers offer 1-click WordPress installation, then check this article from bitnewbot.
